Materials Needed

  • Metal outdoor table and chair set
  • Drop cloth or old sheet
  • Clean Cloth or Paper Towel
  • Tremclad Rust Primer
  • Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Multi-Colour Textured Finish (colour of your choice)

Step 1

Find an open and well-ventilated spot to work, preferably outside. If your chairs have cushions, remove them and set aside. Place the chairs and table on top of several drop cloths or old sheets. Remember to cover surrounding areas to protect from spray mist.

Step 2

Be sure you are starting with a clean surface by wiping down the chair and tables with a cloth or paper towel to remove any contaminants, dirt and debris.

Step 3

For a good base, start your project with a coat of Tremclad Rust Primer. This will enhance the look of your top coat.

Step 4

Next, apply your chosen colour, Rustic Umber for instance, in Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Multi Textured paint to chairs and table, including the bottoms. Applying paint to the bottom will ensure accurate weather-proofing. For best results, apply two or more light coats a few minutes apart versus one heavy coat.

Step 5

Once your set is completely dry, set up your new seating area and get ready to entertain!
